My First License™ – I Know My Road Rules aims to tap children at a very early age and educate them on road safety. This special initiative helps children to understand the impact of road safety. Tailor-made to make it exciting and have a long lasting impression, school children receive a holistic approach to teaching them the essentials of road safety with both theory and activity.

Children within the age group of 5-9 years’ experience a very exciting day with a specially created mini road network in their schools which includes road signs, zebra crossings, a roundabout and traffic signals. A qualified instructor teaches them road safety basics and how to identify and know the difference between key road signs. What seals the education process is the hands-on knowledge the children get while using miniature cars in the mock road network.

On completion of the drive, each child receives a personalized license endorsed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) stating ‘My First License™ – I Know My Road Rules’. The license does not permit the child to drive however, it does indicate that the license holder has attended a program on road safety and is now aware of basic road safety rules.

Started in 2011, so far over 26,000 children have been a part of this exciting road safety education process.
